Sometimes in our profession we have to be brave. Brave to admit in front of others and to ourselves that we need improvement. Sometimes in our lives we must be brave to be who we are even when it is not popular. 

Each of us likely has many others to thank for their guidance in helping us along the way in our education, and our personal & professional development. The 2017 PCRID Conference aims to focus on this notion with our theme, “Brave[r] Space” - a space where all of us must be brave enough to improve and be.

Accordingly, the PCRID conference welcomes an audience of novice to experienced interpreters, interpreting students, and members of the local deaf community.

The conference site is wheelchair accessible and will primarily be conducted in ASL. Any spoken content will be interpreted into ASL. When registering, please let us know if any other accommodations as defined by the ADA are needed.

The business meeting is a key part of our annual conference. It will be held during lunch on Saturday, November 18th. Start thinking about whether you'd like to run for a board position, and get to know our current policies so that you can make a motion to improve how PCRID functions and how we serve you!

Four board positions are up for election:

  • Director of Communication (2018 & 2019)
  • Director of Membership (2018 & 2019)
  • Treasurer (2018 & 2019)
  • Director of Meetings (2018 only)

Did you know that PCRID has been around since 1971? Part of how we've continued to exist for the past 46 years is by having Bylaws and policies. We've always been run by volunteers, so these policies create continuity.

You can help create change in PCRID by reviewing our current policies, and proposing new ones. Have a suggestion? Click here to make a motion.


Per our Bylaws, the following members can vote:

1. Certified:  A PCRID member who is a Certified member in good standing of RID.

2. Associate:  A PCRID member who is an Associate member in good standing of RID.

3. Student:  A PCRID member who is currently enrolled in an interpreting degree program at a college or university AND who is also a student member in good standing of RID.

Be sure to check your membership status in both PCRID and RID!

Cancellation Policy

Refund levels noted below are for registration fees only. Other services paid for will be refunded in full. Registrations are fully transferable! If someone else will take your place, please email treasurer@pcrid.org as soon as possible.
 If you do need to cancel,  email treasurer@pcrid.org. Refunds are as follows:

    •    Until Friday, October 20th, 11:59 pm (5 weeks before the conference start date): Full amount of registration minus $20
    •    Saturday October 21st (4 weeks before the conference start date) until
Saturday November 4th, 11:59 pm : 50% refund
    •    On or after Saturday November 5th (2 weeks before the conference start date): No refund given.
