  1. Flexible schedule;
  2. Meeting different and new people; and
  3. The cognitive process of interpreting various concepts and conveying meaning.

3 of my professional aspirations are:

  1. Present a workshop;
  2. Interpret overseas; and
  3. Get into performance and legal interpreting.

What I hope to bring to PCRID is: I hope to bring our communities together to strengthen the profession. I plan to cultivate current and future generations, create "seats at the table" and afford everyone the opportunity to bring out the leader within themselves.

Interpreting Background: Interpreting for 5+ years in the domains of medical, government, business, the arts, post secondary, community, and social events.

3 things I like about interpreting are:

  1. Seeing the strengthened relationship building that happens between individuals once they are able to communicate effectively with each other; and
  2. I love the constant exposure to new and different topics that I would not typically encounter in my everyday life; and
  3. The professional community; my fellow interpreters are some of the most tenacious and self-driven professionals I have met, and they continue to better the field with their commitment and passion.

3 of my professional aspirations are:

  1. Continue my medical education and obtain a medical interpreting certification;
  2. Interpret abroad and eventually add another spoken language; and 
  3. Work as a designated interpreter for a Deaf professional.

What I hope to bring to PCRID is: As Director of Member Relations, I want to ensure that effective two-way communication occurs between the PCRID board and the membership community in order to help align PCRID with the values and priorities of its membership.

Interpreting Background: Interpreting for 2 years in the domains of business, k-12, post-seconday, community, and social events.

3 things I like about interpreting are:

  1. The variety of jobs and experiences that this field brings to my life;
  2. The constant challenges that this work involves; and
  3. The access and exposure to different cultures that entering this world has brought to my life, which I inevitably bring to the various communities in my life, as well.
3 of my professional aspirations are:
  1. I am currently working towards getting my NIC certification;
  2. Taking the EIPA; and
  3. After that, I am looking forward to the world returning to normal so that I can get back to working in person and connecting with people in the interpreting and Deaf community.

What I hope to bring to PCRID is: In my position of the Independent Study CMP Volunteer, I will be processing the CEU's for any Independent Study that is submitted. I'm also trying to be involved in PCRID to be able to contribute and give back in any other way that may surface. I don't yet know how I will be able to insert my own flare or use my skills to grow and develop PCRID but I am looking out for those opportunities of possibilities to surface and will jump on them when that happens.
